The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Honorable William Harmon. Reading by coordinator, Stacy Vahrenkamp. Music performed by Angela Cook and the bride's uncle, Michael Dabbs. A reception followed in the Moody Grand Ballroom with music by Dale Nowak and Young Country. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at Fish Tales. The bride is the daughter of Betsy and Herbert Polgue of Pasadena, the granddaughter of Elizabeth and J.B. Dabbs of Taylor, and the niece of Kay and Mike Dabbs of Austin. The groom is the son of Tommie and Joe Herzik of Crosby and Debbie and Jim Roper of Portland, Texas. Grandparents are Margaret Hinton of Baytown and the late Douglas Lee Hinton, James Roper of Pearland and the late Bernice Roper, and Virginia and Gene Herzik of Columbus. Matron of Honor was Lael Cardenas, the bride's longtime best friend. Serving as bridesmaids were Angela Cook, special friend and college roommate; Dawn Haines, PhD., "foster sister" / friend; Lori Doyle and Amy Roper, sisters of the groom. Junior bridesmaids were Amber Roper, sister of the groom and Shay Poenitzsch, cousin of the groom. Serving as Best Man, the groom's childhood friend Jeff Johnson. Standing as groomsmen were Leighton Iles, college roommate; Bruce Hallman, George Morales, Lee Parker, long-time friends; and Wayne Doyle, brother-in-law. Junior groomsmen were Douglas and Clayton Arlitt, cousins of the groom. Ushers were Mark Van Cleave and Paul Baxter. Honorary bridal attendants were Sharese Whitecotton, sorority big-sister and roommate; Lesli Smith, sorority little-sister. House party included Robin Blankenburg, Becky Iles, Julie Krumnow, Melissa Morales, and DeDe Williams. Holly is a 1989 graduate of Sam Rayburn High School, and 1993 graduate of Sam Houston State University with a BFA in Radio/Television, and a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She is a News Assignment Editor for KRIV FOX26. Daryl graduated in 1985 from Rockport-Fulton High School and attended Southwest Texas State. He is an Account Executive for MobiLease in Houston. Mr. and Mrs. Roper have postponed their honeymoon until December to attend the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.
