Ms. Katharine Josephine Wolken and Mr. Shane Roy Gay were united in marriage on January 13, 2001 at seven o'clock in the evening at St. Mary's Catholic Church in League City, Texas. The double ring ceremony was performed by Monsignor Eugene Cargill. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Harbour Club at South Shore Harbour. On the eve of the wedding, the parents of the groom hosted the rehearsal dinner at Perry's Italian Grill.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wolken of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Josephine Keiser of St. Louis and the late Mr. John Keiser and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Wolken. The groom is the son of Ms. Peggy Gay of Houston, Texas and Mr. Don Gay of Dickinson, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Marie Gay of Dickinson, Texas and the late Mr. Carl Gay and Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Manning of Hope, Arkansas.
Serving as Matrons of Honor were Mrs. Laura James of Lubbock, Texas and Mrs. Beth Wells of El Paso, Texas, sisters of the bride. The best man was Mr. Don Gay, Jr. of Dickinson, Texas, brother of the groom.
The bride graduated cum laude from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Arts in History. She is currently working for a Houston City Council Member.
The groom is actively involved in his family business. Following a cruise in the Caribbean the couple will reside in Kemah, Texas.
