Mr. Dalton Hughes, Sr. and Mrs. Sandra Wooten-Hughes, are happy retirees of Houston Independent School District. Dalton Hughes, Sr. retired on January 31, 2003 after 42 years of service in HISD with the last 25 years as Principal at Betsy Ross Elementary School. Sandra Wooten-Hughes retired in June 2001 after 39 years of service in HISD with the last 11 years at Barbara Jordan High School for Careers serving as an Academic LPC Counselor. Dalton and Sandra are the Godchildren of Arthur C. & Hazel R. Lilly who are retired educators.
They are the proud parents of Dalton Hughes, Jr., DeAndrea L. Hughes, daughter-in-law Connie LaCour Hughes, grandson Kendrick, a special niece and nephew Michael and Cornellia Angelle and their children Michael and Asiah.
Dalton and Sandra are 40-year members of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church where they serve as Deacon and Deaconess. Also, they are still active in the education arena working with NFISD, HISD, Shady-Tidwell-Timbers Civic Club, and other organizations. The happy couple is enjoying retirement, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Congratulations and Best Wishes!!
