He retired from Owens-Brockway in 1991. She retired from the Brockway Area School District in 1996. They have three children: Joseph of Centralia, Ill., Debra of Hershey and Robert of Timonium, Md. They also have five grandchildren. They will celebrate their anniversary later this summer at a family dinner. === (Obituary of Joseph Verne: "Joseph A. Verne, age 89, of Bond Street Brockway, PA; died on Wednesday September 26, 2018 at his residence. Born on March 27, 1929, in Brockway, PA; he was the son of the late Nick and Filonilla Cipolla Verne. On June 25, 1955, he was married to Mary “Margie” Day and she survives. Retired, Joe had been employed at Brockway Glass as a Hot End Foreman for 45 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Japan. Joe was a member at St. Tobias Church in Brockway where he served as an usher for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a daughter Debra Verne of Hershey, PA; 2 sons: Robert (Amelia) Verne of Timonium, MD; Joseph D. (Mary Lynn) Verne of Rockwood, PA; 1 brother: Nick Verne of Brockway and 5 grandchildren: Laura Verne, Matthew Verne, Katherine Verne, Jennifer Lancaster, Steven J. Verne and one great granddaughter Lily Mae Lancaster. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by 5 brothers: Tony, Matthew, Louie, William and John Verne and 4 sisters: Yola Becker, Dolly Verne, Annie Verne and Mary Parolari. Calling hours will be on Friday, September 28, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 29, at 10:00 AM at St. Tobias Church in Brockway with Msgr. Charles Kaza presiding. Burial will follow in St. Tobias Cemetery. A Vigil Service will be held Friday evening at 8:45 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Tobias Church 1135 Hewitt Street Brockway, PA 15824.")
