Hutson of Sharpsburg were honored with a surprise 50th wedding anniversary celebration Sunday, March 23, 1997, at the Sharpsburg Ambulance Co. building in Sharpsburg. The event was hosted by the couples' children, Donald Hutson of Hagerstown and Bonnie Thompson of Shepherdstown, W.Va. Mrs. Hutson is the former Jessie A. Spitler of Macanie, Va. She is the daughter of the late George and Virgie Spitler. Mr. Hutson is the son of the late George W. and Sadie A. Hutson. He retired in 1986 from National Park Service and is a veteran of World War II. The Hutsons were married March 25, 1947, in Boonsboro by the Rev. Herpich.
