Patton - Acton
Laura Elizabeth Acton and Stephen Urban Patton of Arlington, Virginia, were married September 28, 2002, at six o'clock in the evening at White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh. Dr. Arthur Ross and Reverend Darren Brandon officiated. After the ceremony a reception was held at North Ridge Country Club. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Allan Acton of Raleigh. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Joseph McDonald of Wilmington, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Philip Allan Acton junior of Raleigh. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howell Cobb Patton III of Franklin, Kentucky. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Washington Luigart of Lexington, Kentucky, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Howell Cobb Patton junior of Franklin, Kentucky. Jennifer Lee Murphy of Arlington, Virginia, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the groom's sister, Jennifer Locke Patton of Louisville, Kentucky; Margaret Taylor Blair of St. Paul, Minnesota; Emily Elizabeth Jordan of Atlanta; Stacy Marie Landis and Tina Marie Williams of Arlington, Virginia; Kathryn Frances Meyer of Charleston, South Carolina; Emily Parrish Smith of Winston-Salem; and Marin Kathleen Shaughnessy of Boston. The groom's niece, Madison Hughes Patton of Atlanta, served as the flower girl. Howell Cobb Patton III served as his son's best man. Groomsmen were the groom's brother, Spencer Yancey Patton of Atlanta; the bride's brother, Allan McDonald Acton of Richmond, Virginia; the groom's cousin, William Munford Jourdan of Birmingham; William Pruitt Ashworth of Washington, D.C.; David Brian Butt and Danny Craig Delk of Bowling Green, Kentucky; Andrew Charles Dockham of Charlottesville, Virginia; Michael Edward Fronczek of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Ryan Wesley Lakenan of New York; and Kyle Quinton Wilson of Knoxville, Tennessee. Scripture was read by James Andrew Betts junior of Raleigh. Greeters were Laura Leigh Clark of Charlotte; Bonnie Warren Palsa of Crownsville, Maryland; and Anne Austin Weissenberger of Washington, D.C. The bride graduated from Wake Forest University and is employed by Accenture in Reston, Virginia. The groom graduated from Wake Forest University and is employed by Precision Marketing, Inc. in Falls Church, Virginia. After a honeymoon trip to Aruba, the couple will reside in Arlington, Virginia.
