Braswell - Davis
Caroline Barber Davis and Edwin Maurice Braswell III of Chapel Hill were married April 22, 2006, at three o'clock in the afternoon at Christ Church in Raleigh. The Reverend Dr. Winston B. Charles officiated. A reception was held at Carolina Country Club following the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Boyd Davis III of Raleigh. She is the granddaughter of the late Colonel and Mrs. John Scott Pollard of Fayetteville, and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Boyd Davis Jr. of Warrenton. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Earle Abernethy of Kinston, and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Maurice Braswell Jr. of Emerald Isle. He is the grandson of Mrs. Billy Parker Manning Sr. of Tarboro and the late Mr. Manning, and the Honorable and Mrs. Edwin Maurice Braswell Sr. of Fayetteville. Miss Elizabeth Kearny Davis of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, served as her sister's maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Anna Elizabeth Braswell of Kinston, sister of the groom; Miss Anne Gibson Connell of Asheville, cousin of the bride; Miss Erin Woodall Duff of Chapel Hill; Miss Molly Park Hassinger of Charlotte; Miss Elizabeth Walters Smith of Raleigh; and Miss Elizabeth Anne Swindell of Wilmington.Mr. Adam Taylor Duke of Chapel Hill served as best man. The groomsmen were Mr. Thaddeus Jones Barringer III; Mr. John Boyd Davis IV, brother of the bride; Mr. Thomas Richard Lee of Raleigh; Mr. Justin Carreker of Savannah, Georgia; Mr. Wood Jonathan Farless of Merry Hill; and Mr. Austin Blake Mooring of LaGrange. Mr. Frank Shields Pittman III of San Clemente, California, and the Honorable Edwin Maurice Braswell Sr. of Fayetteville served as readers. The crucifer was Margaret Foerster Bratton of Raleigh. Howard Harris Moye and Morten DeWitt Moye of Raleigh served as torchbearers. Program attendants were Evelyn Austin Nash of Charlotte, and Gabrielle Palmer Bratton and Virginia Lane Nash of Raleigh. The bride graduated from Saint Mary's School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. The groom graduated from Kinston High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He is employed as a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch in Durham. After a honeymoon trip to St. John, Virgin Islands, the couple will reside in Chapel Hill.
