Faulkner - Bateman
Kathryn James Bateman and Alan Sheppard Faulkner were married at four o'clock in the afternoon on December 29, 2007 at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Pittsboro. The Reverend Fred Hoffman and the Reverend Ru Sen officiated in the ceremony. A reception followed at the Ackland Art Museum in Chapel Hill. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Joseph Bateman, Jr. of Raleigh and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Dickerson of Washington, and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Joseph Bateman, Sr. of Tarboro. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jon Alan Faulkner of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is the grandson of Mrs. Eugene Vance Pepper of Winston-Salem and the late Mr. Pepper, and Mrs. John Franklin Faulkner of Gainesville, Georgia, and the late Mr. Faulkner. The matron of honor was Katherine Anne Evans of Raleigh. Other bridal attendants were Meredith Anne Beck of Charlotte; Katherine Elizabeth Godwin of Boston, Massachusetts; Mary Catherine Chisholm of Chapel Hill; Julia Margaret Roach of Raleigh; Anna Kathryn Dean of Chapel Hill; and Sarah Lillian Stamper of Washington, DC. The best man was Mr. John Alan Faulkner, father of the groom. Additional groomsmen were William Joseph Bateman, III, brother of the bride, of Buenos Aires, Argentina; Vance Pepper Faulkner and Waters Faulkner, brothers of the groom, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; William Lawson Konvalinka of Trujillo, Peru; Parker Brinkley Melvin of Charlotte; Glenn Edward Roebuck, III of Athens, Georgia; and Thomas Peyton Smith of Oxford, Mississippi. Ushers were Bradley Haskinet Barnes of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Stuart Miles Honeycutt of Durham. Scripture readers were Andrew Gustavo Mutter of Athens, Georgia, and Stefanie Marie Trotta of Portugal. Chalice bearers were Kristen Ashton of Asheville and Sara Katherine Rich of Charlotte. Greeters were Sarah Kathryn Sams, Abigail Elizabeth Sams, and Hannah Briley Sams, cousins of the bride, of Williamsburg, Virginia. Music for the ceremony was provided by Joseph Decosimo of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Mrs. Josephine Snelling of Pittsboro. The bride and groom graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. They are both employed by the University of Virginia and reside in Charlottesville, Virginia.
