Fornkahl - Estes

CAPE GIRARDEAU - Lora Elizabeth Fornkahl and Jason Lee Estes were united in marriage in a 2 p.m. double-ring ceremony June 23, 2001, at Trinity Lutheran Church before the Rev. Douglas Briete. Dennis Rolwing of Waxahachie, Texas, read scripture.

The bride is the daughter of Ron and Glenda Fornkahl of Cape Girardeau and granddaughter of Robert and Leona Fornkahl of Cape Girardeau, Grace Proffer of Jackson and the late Marvin Proffer.

Her husband, son of Dennis and Karen Estes of Charleston, is the grandson of Cornelius and Dorothy Rolwing and Lindell Estes of Charleston and the late Jean Estes.

A fresh flower arrangement with candelabras accented with fern and purple bows decorated the sanctuary with white bows entwined with tulle and green ivy attached to the pews. Two purple candles, placed on the left side of the altar, were lit by the mothers of the bride and bridegroom in memory of Marvin Proffer and Jean Estes.

The variety of musical selections included "Suite for Handbells" preceding the ceremony and "Canon in D" performed by the Trinity Ringers Handbell Choir. Bill Bonney, brother-in-law of the bride, sang "Gift of Love" and "I Will Be Here," accompanied by flutist Anna Bonney and organist Dotty Meyr of Cape Girardeau. Other music included "Grazioso," "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" with the "Trumpet Tune in D Major" as the recessional.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white European/Venice lace combination that featured an understated corset bodice covered with small white pearls and embroidered flowers. Three fabric roses were attached to the lower part of the shoe-laced back that held the aproned detachable cathedral train. Tiny satin bows accented the off-the-shoulder straps and a headpiece of delicate flowers and pearls accented the below-the-waist veil. The bride carried a cascade of akito roses mixed with lavender lilianthus, miniature calla lilies and pink veronica.

Anna Bonney of Jackson served her sister as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Melanie Lutes and Marcie McCormack of Jackson and Meagan Fornkahl of Cape Girardeau, cousin of the bride.

Their deep purple floor-length dresses featured an off-the-shoulder sweetheart neckline, natural basque waist and full skirt. Each carried a hand-tied bouquet of akito roses, lavender stock, miniature calla lilies and amaranthus.

Flower girl Alison Martin, daughter of Mark and Katrina Martin of Edmond, Okla., and cousin of the bridegroom, wore a lavender satin floor-length dress which featured fabric roses at the waist and a fabric bow at the back. A fresh flower wreath with streamers adorned her hair and she carried a white basket of the bride's chosen flowers.

Jeremy Pruden of Scott City was best man and groomsmen were Chris Jackson of Morehouse, Jason Lawless of Benton and Jason Youngblood of East Prairie. Andrew Fornkahl of Cape Girardeau, brother of the bride, served as usher and candlelighter. Gary Files of Chaffee and Paul Estes of Wildwood, cousin of the bridegroom, also served as ushers.

The bridegroom and groomsmen were attired in black tuxedos with a purple vest and the ushers' tuxedos featured black vests. Each wore a single white rose boutonniere.

Conrad Bonney, son of Bill and Anna Bonney of Jackson and nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. His black tuxedo featured a lavender cummerbund and bow tie, also accented with a single white rose boutonniere.

Guest book attendant was Mollie Bowman of Jackson and programs and bubbles were distributed by Ashley Cook of Jackson and Emily Schlimpert of Altenburg.

A dinner and dance was held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Scott City. The three-tiered wedding cake was decorated with a Victorian motif, featuring a cross, doves and flowers on the top. Stair steps with miniature angels led to a layer on each side of the wedding cake. The bridegroom's cake was decorated with a picture of his race car.

Servers were Nora Ahrens of Tilset and Mary Schlimpert of Altenburg, aunts of the bride and Linda Estes of Charleston and Mary Ann Rolwing of Waxahachie, aunts of the bridegroom. Music was provided by CSE Sound System.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bridegroom's parents on June 22 at Woodard's Restaurant for the wedding party and their guests.

Following a wedding trip to the Caribbean, the couple is making their home in Diehlstadt.

The bride received a bachelor of general studies degree in May from Southeast Missouri State University and is employed by Capaha Bank.

A 1995 graduate of Thomas W. Kelly High School, the bridegroom is employed by the Missouri Department of Transportation.
