Hogan - Henry

LIBERTY - Shannon Kaye Hogan and Whitson Edward Henry III exchanged vows during a 2 p.m. wedding Mass on Aug. 18, 2001, at St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Ron Will performed the double-ring ceremony. Scripture readings were provided by Furgison S. Hunter Jr. of New Madrid, uncle of the bridegroom, Jennifer Nollette of Kansas City and Justin Hunter of Washington, D.C.

The new Mrs. Henry is the daughter of Les and Sharon Van Bibber of Liberty and granddaughter of Bud and Mary Baker of Kansas City.

The bridegroom is the son of Whitson "Bud" and Beth Henry of New Madrid. He is the paternal grandson of Mildred Henry of New Madrid and the late Whitson E. Henry and maternal grandson of the late Furgison S. and Olive Howard Hunter.

Pianist Tyler Henderson and soloist Jeff Parrish provided music for the ceremony.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white Mori Lee gown with an off-the-shoulder neckline. Beading and lace overlaid the bodice of the princess design, which was complemented with a full-length skirt featuring six layers of tulle and vertical beading. Appliques and seed pearls adorned the chapel-length train. Her tiara style veil, designed with double layers of tulle, was enhanced with beading and seed pearls. Her cascading bridal bouquet was of white roses and greenery.

Dana Mehrens of St. Joseph attended her sister as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Sissom and Denise Thomas of Kansas City; Jeanine Baker of Houston, Texas, aunt of the bride; Gretchen Henry of Liberty, sister-in-law of the bridegroom; and Leslie Henry of Kansas City, sister of the bridegroom. Their iridescent burgundy full-length gowns were designed with small shoulder straps. The fitted bodice was complemented with a full A-line skirt.

Madison Wilson served her mother as junior bridesmaid. Her sleeveless white satin gown, which featured a high neckline and fitted bodice, was embellished with seed pearls, beads and sequins. The full-length gown was designed with an A-line skirt.

Flower girl Samantha Kaye Hunter of New Madrid, daughter of Tim and Kim Hunter, wore a white satin gown which featured puff sleeves and was designed with a fitted bodice and full tea-length skirt. The bodice and front of the skirt were adorned with intricate beading.

The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Chad-Hunter Henry of Liberty as best man. Groomsmen were Michael Hunter, Paul Rost and David LaValle of St. Louis, Patrick Carlson of New Madrid and Steven Williams of Chicago, Ill. Ushers were Joe DeLisle of New Madrid, Jeff Williams of Nashville, Tenn., and George Sayre of Houston, Texas, uncle of the bride. Alex Mehrens of St. Joseph, son of Bobby and Dana Mehrens, was ring bearer. The groomsmen, ushers and fathers of the bride and bridegroom were attired in black tuxedos with burgundy and black brocade vests.

Justin and Caroline Hunter of Washington, D.C., served the couple as candlelighters. Guest book and program attendants were Lauren Hunter and Tracey Hendley of New Madrid and Laura Hendley of Sikeston. Wedding coordinator Karen Beltz was assisted by gift bearers Nancy Kay Moore, Mary Eva Hunter, Olivia Hunter and JoElla Jones, all of New Madrid and aunts of the bridegroom.

The wedding dinner and reception was held at the Claycomo Center in Liberty, featuring the three-tiered bridal cake and five side cakes, along with decorations of red roses and rose petals.

A rehearsal dinner for the wedding party, hosted by the bridegroom's parents Aug. 17, was held at the Smoke House Restaurant in Kansas City.

On July 24 a bridal shower at the Briar Hill Club House in Kansas City was hosted by Dana Mehrens, Jeanine Baker and Jennifer Sisson.

A Blessing of Marriage was celebrated by Monsignor Michael Swalina, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Madrid, on Sept. 1 during a reception held at the home of the bridegroom's parents.

The bride is a litigation manager at Citibank and the bridegroom is employed by the Suntory Water Group in Kansas City.

Following a honeymoon to Cancun, Mexico, Mr. and Mrs. Henry are making their home in Liberty.
