Nowell - Congdon
Miss Marilyn Marie Congdon and Mr. Matt Hooper Nowell, junior were married at half past five o'clock on Saturday, December 1, 2007, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Wilmington. The Reverend Doctor Glenn E. Busch officiated. A reception at Figure Eight Island Yacht Club followed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Scott Congdon of High Point. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Lee Seay of Raleigh, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Everette Congdon of High Point. The bride is a graduate of Westchester Academy in High Point and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from North Carolina State University in Raleigh. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Hooper Nowell of Raleigh. He is the is the grandson of Mrs. Harry Milas Dayvault of Raleigh and the late Mr. Dayvault, and Mrs. Alton Gwynn Nowell of Raleigh and the late Mr. Nowell. He is a graduate of Broughton High School in Raleigh and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The groom is Vice President of Real Estate Services with Craig Davis Properties in Raleigh. Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by her sisters, Miss Ashlyn Lane Congdon and Miss Kathryn Leigh Congdon, both of High Point, as maids of honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Elizabeth Ryce Godwin of Wilmington; Miss Sarah Elizabeth Kepley of Raleigh; Mrs. Julieanna Seantel Londry of Cary; Miss Kathryn Dayvault Nowell, sister of the groom, of Raleigh; Miss Deena Victoria Qubein and Miss Kristin Elizabeth Sams, both of High Point; Miss Margaret Lindsay Sams of Charlotte; and Miss Jaclyn Kay White of Raleigh. The groom's father served as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Ryan Stephenson Bock, Mr. Paul Edgerton Cranfill, Mr. John Tyler Highsmith, Mr. Robert Walker Hobson, Mr. Samuel Clark Jenkins, junior, Mr. Michael Hill Lewis, Mr. John Douglass Merritt, junior, Mr. David Todd Misenheimer, all of Raleigh; and Mr. Will Crawford Henderson of New York, New York. The ring bearer was Master Alton Gwynn Nowell IV, cousin of the groom, of Raleigh. Mrs. Laura Nowell Swayne, sister of the groom, of Raleigh was the reader. Program attendants were Mrs. Lauren Shirley Lewis of Raleigh and Miss Shanley Anne Kiser of Charlotte. The crucifer was Miss Megan Elise Yowell of High Point. On Friday evening, the parents of the groom hosted the rehearsal dinner at Figure Eight Island Yacht Club. After a honeymoon trip to Jumby Bay, the couple resides in Raleigh.
